Irish Aid
Spreading the word of Irish generosity to an online audience
Working with Arekibo since 2002, Irish Aid has pioneered new levels of national and international online community building using Arekibo’s unique insights into digital policy and web strategy.
Irish Aid is the section of the Department of Foreign Affairs which deals with the distribution of aid and financial assistance to developing countries on behalf of the Irish government and the people of Ireland.
Arekibo bring Irish Aid to the digital stage
Arekibo was first commissioned by Irish Aid in 2002 to develop the online strategy and develop the core Irish Aid site. The aim of the project was to create an online presence that communicated the role of Ireland and its international aid program. They needed to showcase the work and projects, areas of investment and provide comprehensive information and case studies on the countries that receive support from the programme. The site was launched in 2003 and included interactive maps, image galleries and video; features that would be considered common today. The site was also developed upon a CMS system that is still in use.
“Irish Aid has a great working relationship with Arekibo and the proof of this is in the quality and popularity of our website with the public and the development sector.” Irish Aid
Our dedication to our partnership has enabled Irish Aid and Arekibo to collaborate on creating new and innovative services online. We have worked together on creating a suite of campaign sites, interactive kiosks, interactives and services to help communicate and promote the work of the programme.
“Arekibo came through the tender process mainly because of their people; be they creative, technical or business and each had a clear and concise view of how they could contribute to the project. With hindsight we are delighted with the relationship we have developed with Arekibo and the work they have produced has been excellent.”
